Michael’s return as the NBA 2K23 cover athlete for the Legend Edition posed a unique hurdle in introducing a hoops deity for the third time. How do we outdo previous cover announcements? How can the basketball narrative outside of gaming shape our approach? And most importantly, will MJ like this?!
Understanding that basketball narratives on #NBAtwitter are settled with highlights and stats, and that our community crosses over into the never-ending arguments of who is the true GOAT, we fine-tuned the creative brief to lean in nostalgia with Jordan highlights, and drive home the emotion from the announcer calls to elevate the epic moment. This was wrapped up with music designed to be paired perfectly to color MJ’s dominance as we ask our community to Answer The Call.
